CoC Invocation-WILLIAM R. SWEENEY,SMSgt,USAF

June 22, 2010

Heavenly Father, I ask today that You bless the men and women of the 86 Munitions Squadron as we say good-bye to our out-going commander, Major Lane and his family and welcome our in-coming commander, Major Benton and his family. Father, I want to thank you for giving us Major Lane for these last 3 years. I truly believe that You placed him here as our commander. He has worked so hard for this squadron, dedicating himself to the mission and the people. Thank you for giving him the strength, wisdom and integrity to lead our squadron through innumerable challenges. He always remained faithful to You and worked tirelessly for this unit and its people. I thank You for his wife, Mellissa, and their children, Sarah, Ian, Hannah, and Abigail. They supported Major Lane through all the long hours and difficult days. He could not have been the outstanding commander he was without the love and support of his family. I ask that You bless and guide this family as they begin a new chapter in their lives and Air Force career. We send them off with a heart-felt thank you and God-speed. At the same time, Father, I thank you for bringing Major Benton to this unit. I also truly believe that You have placed him here to be our new commander. He has willingly accepted the challenge and responsibility of leading this unit. Lord, please give him the strength, wisdom and integrity to lead our squadron into the future. I ask that You bless his wife, Tobi, and their children, Emily, Thomas, Benjamin and Samuel. Bless this family as they begin a new chapter in their lives and Air Force career. Help them to settle in to their new home quickly and smoothly. I pray that the men and women of the 86 Munitions Squadron would warmly welcome and fully support our new commander and his family. I now ask for Your blessings on this Change-of-Command ceremony and we give You all the praise. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
