Sweet Land of Liberty?

October 25, 2011

As Christians from around the world anxiously wait for news on Youcef Nadarkhani, a 32-year-old pastor in Iran who is facing death for converting from Islam, the concerns about religious persecution are growing. Some experts put the blame squarely on the doorstep of the Obama administration, whose culture of accommodation may be leading to more violence and bloodshed overseas. With martyrs dying and politicians delaying, U.S. policy on religious freedom is as urgent and relevant as ever. That’s why FRC is hosting a special panel discussion on President Obama’s International Religious Freedom record tomorrow, October 26, at noon in our Media Center (801 G Street, NW, Washington, D.C.). To see a list of our distinguished guests or to register (either in-person or for the live stream), click here. While FRC tackles the question of religious freedom from a global perspective, members of Congress will bring the debate closer to home. As part of a House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing Wednesday afternoon, Chairman Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) will be weighing how best to protect Americans from the wave of attacks headed our way. Stay tuned for more on both events.
