About

Hi! I’m Melissa Lane. Welcome to “Lanes in the Promised Land”.

I’ve been thinking about the title of this blog. The synonyms for “Lanes” are quite interesting and appealing to my country girl’s heart. When I think of a lane, I think of a tree-lined, sweet-smelling country road.

Lane

noun: lane; plural noun: lanes

1.a narrow road, especially in a rural area.
“she drove along the winding lane”

synonyms: byroad, byway, bridleway, bridle path, path, pathway, footpath, way, towpath, trail, track, road, street, alley, alleyway, roadway, passage, thoroughfare

In the Bible, God makes all kinds of promises to all sorts of individuals. Promises to mankind itself. Since He’s the Perfect Promise Keeper I know that He will never leave me or forsake me. He’s with me always and so wherever I am that His ‘Promised Land’ for me.

Promised Land

Deuteronomy 27:3New King James Version (NKJV)

3 You shall write on them all the words of this law, when you have crossed over, that you may enter the land which the Lord your God is giving you, ‘a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord God of your fathers promised you.

The synonyms for “Lane” and the idea of a Promised Land lend the name of this blog to multiple possible different combinations. So this blog could be named “Paths in Milk and Honey”. 🙂 Can you think up any fun ones?

P.S. A narrow road reminds me of Matthew 7:13 & John 14:6:

The narrow way:

13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.”

6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
